A clear need for an integrated approach to the Orbital Railway is to establish appropriate use of the correct trains for different needs.
The MNR has thus far utilised vintage diesel trains (though steam is due to appear in 2006), the NNR uses a mixture of steam and vintage and the Bittern line is still dominated by "Sprinter" units although the occasional service sees the more modern Turbostars. 2006 will also see steam back on the Bittern line in the form of special trains - how much easier such enterprises will be to operate when the Sheringham link is restored.
The Orbital Railway would see a mix of all types operating over all the constituent parts of the circle.
