The Holt, Melton Constable and Fakenham Railway Company exists to investigate and, in partnership with others, help put in place a cohesive public transport structure for the benefit of all who live and work in Norfolk as well as visitors to the county.
The Norfolk Orbital Railway would link existing lines of the national network with standard gauge privately owned railways to enable greater access to public transport for the communities served and increased revenue earning potential for all the constituent partners.

Initial plans include assisting with the extension of the MNR to Fakenham, connecting Fakenham back to Holt (and the NNR) and establishing a permanent connection at Sheringham between the NNR and Network Rail.

The company also maintains a watching brief, where possible, to work for the protection of former and potential rail routes so that their eventual availability for transport use should not be lost.
